LOL... I love this image! It reminds me of my hubby down the other end of the house with my two girls... He is always complaining that I spend all my time in the craft room. Although this poor chap looks pretty frazzled.. my hubby just sits glued to the TV!

Butterfly Baby Girl

I must admit I really struggled with my DT card for this challenge! I knew what I wanted to do in theory but practically it didn't work. Anyone who knows me knows that I cant sew.. but I wanted a mixture of faux and real stitching which is this weeks challenge at Karen's Doodles.
I used a sheet of Prima paper that had stitching on it, and also faux stitched around the edges, the image I used is called Butterfly baby Girl. Head on over and look at what the Doodle girls have made, and then lets see what you do for this challenge!

Copic Feathering... done by a 7yr old!

Now I have heard through the grapevine that you shouldn't let kids under 12 play with your copics... as they are to hard on them!!! Rubbish I say! Over at Mad for Markers there is a feathering challenge happening.... Bailee was watching me do my DT card for this technique and decided that she wanted to give it a go..... so what do you think???? If a 7yr old can master feathering and enter the challenge, then it should be a breeze for us big kids. I think she has done a great job!

Two challenges!

Quick card to enter two fab challenges today. First is Meljens challenge "seeing spots" and second challenge is for Sentimental Sundays "get well" This is the first time I have entered their challenge, I love their sentiments!

NZ road trip!

Yesterday was spent 8 hours on the road.. 4 hours to our destination then 4 hours back. The purpose of this trip was to visit an old friend who has a similar cancer to what my father had... his 15 months left has been dramatically shortened.
This is the thoughts I have on this....
Every week day speeds by and I hardly get a chance to look up and take in whats happening around me. The months are getting faster as are the years (is this a sign of getting older?) Yesterday was time to sit back and enjoy our country side and look at the changing colours of the trees as they get ready to drop their leaves. To take in the fresh country air and reflect on maybe, just maybe... slowing down a bit.......

Mad for Markers - Black hair tutorial

Hi ladies! This is my first post for Mad for Markers and it's my very first tutorial! Let me say first that I am not Copic Certified, this is just showing you how I like to do black hair.
I tend to colour from lightest to darkest. I first coloured C0 where I like the highlights to be, then work my way through to darker colours - C2, C3, C6 and finally C8.
Hopefully you can see the progression in my photo. Finally in girl 6 I have gone back to C0 and blended all together.
Sometimes for black hair, I like to add a blue into the highlights for shiny hair. I haven't done it in this case.
So how painless was that?? Hopefully this might be of some help to anyone out there that is new to copics and looking for some hints.
Other copics used
Skin - E000, E01, E11
Clothes - YR04, YR07, YR09
Shading - W0, W1
Have a great weekend

HI, just a quick post today to show you my card for Mad 4 Markers challenge blog (colours in one shade). And heres some great news!!, I was lucky enough to be asked to be on Sammi's Design Team. There are very talented Aussie girls on this team as well as two NZers (myself and Lou). M4M shop is based in Australia, Sydney, who solely sell copics and copic paper. It's great for us New Zealanders because Aussie is only across the ditch, so postage wont be such a big deal.
